“Enough is ENOUGH: The Death of Jonny Gammage”
can be purchased for school, group or private viewing.

The issues in this documentary – police misconduct and institutional racism in law enforcement and criminal justice systems in this country - have galvanized the African American and other communities as no others since the Civil Rights Movement.

Enough is ENOUGH…” seeks to provide an overview of the criminal justice system, its relationship to individuals and communities, and the process of changing laws and procedures to bring about social change; in particular, to give youth audiences a context for understanding the mechanics of the legal system.

Danny Glover said this about the film:
“I was riveted by the documentary....What moved me was the mobilization that I saw in ‘Enough is Enough.’ Where the community would not let it go away….So to see the translation of what happened into public action and becoming part of the public discourse, and the people fighting, finally, to get a police review board was what I thought was a powerful aspect of that. Almost full circle…that you had an engaged public on all levels from all walks of life – from college students to people in the public arena in civil society ….Certainly it was one of the compelling examples of how given certain circumstances we do find ways to empower ourselves."

The goals of the Enough is Enough Project are to:

  • Document controversial events and their aftermath objectively so that viewers can use the information to frame their own discussions and make their own judgments.
  • Provide an overview of the criminal justice system, its relationship to individuals and communities, and the process of changing laws and procedures to bring about social change; in particular, to give youth audiences a context for understanding the mechanics of the legal system.
  • Use media arts as constructive tools in the ongoing struggle to resolve the conflicts between law enforcement officers and the citizens they are pledged to protect, especially in minority and marginal communities across the country. For example, the bargaining of police contracts by public officials can become an election issue. If the citizens are informed, they won’t elect politicians who will continue to bargain police contracts with undue “protections” against prosecution for misconduct.
